Bpost now delivers parcels and mail on the Belgian West Coast with zero emissions
Bpost will now deliver parcels and mail on the Belgian West Coast without emissions. This means that postal workers in De Panne, Koksijde, Nieuwpoort, Veurne and Alveringem will carry out their delivery rounds exclusively using electric vans or e-bikes. In this region, they deliver up to 3,500 parcels per day.

By carrying out parcel and mail delivery rounds with electric vehicles or e-bikes, Bpost’s postal workers no longer emit CO₂ during their routes. Specifically, in the Belgian West Coast region, this concerns 62 postal workers who will now travel exclusively using electric transport. Of these, 57 use electric vans and 5 use electric bicycles. In this way, Bpost is preventing 12 tonnes of CO₂ emissions per month in the region.
24 pick-up points in the region
In addition to deploying an electric fleet for postal workers, a dense network of pick-up points also helps make parcel logistics on the West Coast as sustainable as possible. Compared with home delivery, delivering a parcel to a collection point results in nearly half the CO₂ emissions. That is why Bpost has established 24 pick-up points across the West Coast region, including 7 Post offices, 3 Postal Points, 2 Parcel Points and 12 Bboxes (parcel lockers). This network will be further expanded in the coming months so that all 70,000 residents of the West Coast have a pick-up point nearby.
With De Panne, Koksijde and Nieuwpoort, Bpost is adding three new coastal municipalities to its emission-free delivery zones in Belgium. Middelkerke, Bredene and De Haan will follow shortly. In this way, Bpost aims to deliver parcels and mail without emissions along the entire Belgian coastline by 2027.
All of Belgium emission-free by 2035
The efforts on the West Coast are part of Bpost’s ambition to deliver all parcels in Belgium without emissions by 2035. Today, the company has already rolled out its sustainable delivery model in 135 postal codes, representing one third of all Bpost parcels delivered in Belgium. Major cities such as Bruges, Brussels, Charleroi, Leuven and Liège have already been emission-free for some time. By 2050, Bpost also aims to become a fully carbon-neutral company.
