Princess Elisabeth featured on a new postage stamp to mark her 25th birthday
To mark Princess Elisabeth’s 25th birthday on 25 October 2026, Bpost is issuing a new stamp sheet dedicated to her. For this special issue, the Royal Palace selected a black-and-white portrait taken by Bas Bogaerts, the photographer appointed by the Palace for the project. This collector’s edition also marks a first: it is the first special self-adhesive stamp dedicated to a member of the Belgian Royal Family.

This is a birthday that will not go unnoticed among stamp collectors. And for good reason: the idea for this issue actually came from one of them. Bpost decided to take up the suggestion, as stamps featuring members of the Royal Family have traditionally been among the most popular with philatelists.
A portrait selected by the Royal Palace
The new postage stamp is the result of several months of collaboration with the Royal Palace. After approving the project, the Palace organised a photo shoot, selected the portrait of the Princess and opted for a black-and-white image.
Myriam Voz, a designer at Bpost, then took over to transform the photograph into a stamp sheet. The challenge was to strike the right balance between the technical requirements of stamp production, showcasing the portrait and meeting the Palace’s expectations.
“Designing a stamp sheet dedicated to Princess Elisabeth for her 25th birthday was a particularly special project,” explains Myriam Voz, a designer at Bpost’s stamp printing facility. “I was fortunate to work with a beautiful photograph. The portrait selected by the Palace conveys both modernity and timelessness. In designing the sheet, I wanted to preserve that visual purity while adding subtle gold accents. The gold printing gives both the stamp and the sheet a royal touch. It also highlights the future of a young woman who will become Belgium’s first reigning queen.”
A new addition for collectors
This is not the first time Princess Elisabeth has appeared on a postage stamp. She was previously featured in 2002, in 2016 alongside the rest of her family, and in 2019 to mark her 18th birthday.
This latest issue, however, has a distinctive feature: it is the first special self-adhesive postage stamp dedicated to a member of the Belgian Royal Family. (The permanent postage stamp featuring King Philippe serves a different postal purpose and is not a special issue intended for collectors.)
Stamps dedicated to the Royal Family hold a special place in philatelic collections. They appeal not only to dedicated collectors but also to a wider audience with an interest in significant milestones in the life of the Royal Family.
