Bpost enables Click & Collect in Bboxes, Lecot hardware stores are already using it

With its thousands of Bboxes, Bpost aims to make life easier for consumers and businesses. Retailers can submit orders for their customers 24/7 at a nearby parcel locker. Lecot, a chain of hardware stores, already offers this Click & Collect service at 23 of its locations.

Bpost is working on a dense network where parcels can be collected or sent. Today, the company already has 4,500 pick-up points across Belgium, including thousands of Bboxes. In the long term, Bpost aims to have a parcel locker within five minutes of every Belgian. This creates interesting opportunities for businesses, such as Click & Collect. Retailers can prepare orders for their customers and place them in a nearby Bbox. Since Bpost’s lockers are accessible 24/7, customers can collect their orders at any time.

QR code via email

In recent months, Bpost has launched pilot projects for this Click & Collect service with 10 different retail chains and individual merchants. The largest of these pilot projects was carried out with Lecot, a specialist supplier of goods and services for construction professionals. Bboxes with lockers have been installed at no fewer than 23 Lecot locations, and these lockers can be reserved by store staff.

Pieter Morisse, CEO of Lecot: “When a customer indicates they want to collect an order outside store opening hours, the item can now be placed in a Bbox. The customer then receives a QR code by email, allowing them to pick up the order 24/7. The Bbox thus becomes an extension of our store.
Using his smartphone, a customer can pick up his order.

XL doors for additional possibilities

Bpost has also installed XL doors in all Bboxes at Lecot. These are extra-large locker compartments capable of holding items up to 1.79 m in height. This allows large items such as a ladder, a wheelbarrow, or a door profile to be placed in the Bbox for collection.

Laurens Himpe, Chief Automated Parcel Officer at Bpost: “In this segment of the market, time is valuable: contractors, plumbers and technicians want to be able to collect their orders at any time, but also at a location that suits them. By collecting their order directly from a nearby Bbox, they save valuable time on their way to the construction site.
