Production and delivery of Belgian licence plates and registration certificates to remain with Bpost for another five years
The Belgian Federal Public Service (FPS) Mobility and Transport has awarded a new public contract for the production of Belgian vehicle licence plates and registration certificates to Speos. The Bpost entity, which specializes in administrative and financial document management, will therefore continue producing Belgian license plates until at least 2032. Bpost will also remain responsible for their distribution.

Since 2010, Bpost has been responsible for the production – through its entity Speos – and delivery of all official Belgian license plates & and registration certificates– around 1.5 million/year -, providing an essential public service to citizens across the country. The current public concession, which was extended in 2019, expires at the end of January 2027.
Earlier this year, the FPS Mobility and Transport launched a new public procurement procedure with updated service requirements, resulting in an adapted customer journey, service level and contractual arrangements. The new contract, which starts on 1 February 2027, has an initial term of five years with the option of a one-year extension. It has now been awarded to Speos on the basis of objective award criteria. Speos’s parent company Bpost will remain responsible for the delivery of license plates and vehicle registration certificates.
Over the coming months, preparations will be made to ensure a seamless transition to the new modalities and an uninterrupted service from 1 February 2027 onwards.
In accordance with Article 7:97 of the Belgian Companies and Associations Code, the Bnode Board of Directors unanimously approved the ELP Contract following the favourable opinion of an Ad Hoc Committee composed of three independent directors. The statutory auditor also issued the report required under Article 7:97.
