Bpost adjusts its tariffs for 2027
From 1 January 2027, Bpost will adjust its postage stamp and parcel rates against a backdrop of structurally declining mail volumes and changing costs. For most users, the impact of this adjustment will remain limited. Based on the average number of stamps purchased by Belgian households, it represents an additional cost of around 17 cents per month. At the same time, Bpost continues to offer several solutions to help customers reduce their shipping costs.

The mailing habits of Belgians continue to evolve rapidly. This transformation of the postal market is also highlighted by the latest study by the Belgian Institute for Postal Services and Telecommunications (BIPT): in 2025, only 22% of respondents said they still sent letters, compared with 41% five years earlier.
This trend is directly reflected in the mail volumes handled by Bpost, which continue to decline. In the first quarter of 2026, volumes were down by around 14.3% compared with the same period in 2025. While Bpost continues to collect and deliver mail throughout the country, this structural decline in volumes mechanically increases the cost per item. At the same time, costs, particularly labour costs, continue to evolve. Against this backdrop, Bpost is continuing to modernise its network to improve efficiency and maintain an accessible and reliable logistics service throughout Belgium.
Domestic mail rates
- The Non Prior stamp (delivery within three working days) will cost €1.77 when purchased individually and €1.72 per stamp when purchased in a sheet of 10.
- The Prior stamp (delivery on the next working day) will cost €2.73 when purchased individually and €2.68 per stamp when purchased in a sheet of 5.
The residential rate for registered mail will also be adjusted to €10.76.
Depending on actual inflation developments, an additional adjustment of up to 3% may be applied during 2027. This mechanism has been in place for several years, but Bpost has never had to activate it to date.
To limit the impact of the rate adjustment, Bpost continues to offer more cost-effective alternatives, including Non Prior mail, purchasing stamps in sheets and creating parcel shipping labels online.
International rates
- Standardised mail to European destinations: €3.36 per stamp when purchased individually and €3.24 per stamp when purchased in a sheet of 5.
- Mail to destinations outside Europe: €3.58 per stamp when purchased individually and €3.46 per stamp when purchased in a sheet of 5.
Parcels
Rates for prepaid domestic parcels will increase by an average of around 4.5%, with variations depending on weight and type of shipment. For example, bpack 24h will cost €9, compared with €8.60 currently. Rates for prepaid international parcels, however, will remain unchanged.
As every year, during the peak period between Black Friday and Christmas, when parcel volumes are at their highest, a surcharge of €1 per parcel will apply. This measure is intended to offset the additional costs associated with this particularly busy period and to encourage customers to spread their shipments more evenly outside these peak dates.
Keeping costs manageable and helping customers save
For most users, the impact on their monthly budget will remain limited to around 17 cents per month. Currently, 82% of customers opt for Non Prior stamps, while 99% purchase their stamps in sheets of 5 or 10, allowing them to benefit from the most advantageous rates.
For parcels, Bpost encourages customers to send their shipments outside the peak period whenever possible. When this is not possible, customers can use a number of digital and alternative delivery solutions to reduce their costs:
- Use the online label printing service to benefit from more advantageous rates.
- Have parcels delivered to one of the 5,000 Pick-up Points available throughout the country.
What determines the price of a stamp?
The price of a stamp reflects the full cost of providing the postal service, including collection, sorting, transport, delivery, infrastructure management and any returns. It also reflects Bpost’s continued investment in technology and in making its logistics network more sustainable.
Validity of stamps
Stamps purchased before 2027 will remain valid indefinitely thanks to the postage unit system (1, 2 or 3).
